Role: East Point Pavilion Duty Manager

About the role

First Light requires casual Duty Managers to help manage the day-to-day operations of the East Point Pavilion, which incorporates live performances, private hire events such as meetings, parties and large family events as well as being open to the general public. This role will include but is not limited to providing support to the bar and our food outlets, liaison with customers, clients, artists and having overall responsibility for the public and all users of the venue while on duty. This role will mainly incorporate evening and weekend working.

About East Point Pavilion

A stunning Victoriana-style glass pavilion overlooking the sea, East Point Pavilion opened in June 2022 and has since become a key hub for food, events, music and community in Lowestoft. Reimagined by award-winning Hemingway Design, the versatile space houses a bar and independent food concessions, and sees a year-round programme of cultural, commercial and community events. These range from makers markets and album launches to free half- term children’s activities and open mic nights. The Pavilion is managed by First Light Festival CIC, the team behind the town’s annual multi-arts beach festival, in collaboration with East Suffolk Council.

Job Responsibilities

  • Box Office administration, selling tickets using Ticketsource box office system, handling cash and card payment processing

  • Set up for different kinds of events

  • Lead the team for live events

  • Keep all areas clean, tidy and presentable

  • Be the main point of contact for clients/acts at the venue

  • Cash up and record all takings on the appropriate systems at the end of each event

  • Liaise with staff from bar to technical and any external clients to ensure good communication and the

    smooth running of all events

  • Be responsible for the health and safety of members of the public, and the security of all users of the venue

    at all times

  • In the event of a fire alarm, lead on evacuating the premises and dealing with the emergency services

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with a wide range of people

  • Organised and self-motivated

  • Able to perform well and remain professional and calm under pressure

  • Committed to and having a wide understanding of Health and Safety legislation, understanding of

    safeguarding rules

  • A smart and professional appearance

  • Reliable, honest and trustworthy

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work alone without direction

  • Flexible with working patterns including availability for evenings, weekends and public holidays

  • Practical, positive and solutions-focussed

  • Front of house experiences in relation to meet and greet customers

Essential Criteria

  • At least one year's experience in a customer facing role/environment

  • Computer literate

  • Ability to problem solve, think ahead and use initiative.

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working in events such as private hire events, live performances

  • First Aid training

  • Understanding of fire legislation around venues such as East Point Pavilion
